About Belittle Britain

Well it’s what they do…

This is a Recess Monkey project. I’m just sick that I keep hearing the Tories scaremongering about life in Britain, when actually, things are in pretty good nick.

Sure, I’d like to see improvement, but I also remember when half the shops in my local high street were closed, when I had friends and family caught in negative equity repossessions, when pensioners died of cold in the winter and when there were three million unemployed. Add to that, the police suffered from an institutional racism problem, my classroom was a mobile outhouse that developed a large puddle by the blackboard if it rained, 18-month hospital waiting lists were normal and there was an unofficial rationing of heart and cancer care for anyone over the age of 70.

So yes, we could do more and we could do better - but the cheap spin and lies of the Tories, running Britain down and trying to depress everyone, just doesn’t wash. Talk to any Tory in a bar in Westminster and they’ll be unashamed about wanting to privatise the NHS and abolish state education in favour of a voucher system.

Belittle Britain aims to expose this hypocrisy.
